Founded by Prasad HL Bhat and Neha Satak in 2015, Astrome provides gigabit speed telecommunication solutions to telecom service providers, enterprises and defence setups. The deeptech startup is using the same technology as satellite-based internet. It is accelerating the deployment of 5G in suburban and broadband in rural areas through its patented telecom radios and satellite communication products. Their first two products, GigaMesh and GigaSat, have a combined addressable market of $34 billion globally. With offices in Bengaluru, and San Diego, California, the company signed its first overseas deal with a Southeast Asian telecom operator in 2021, besides signing a contract with Indian defence forces to deploy GigaMesh.
Astrome Technologies, an e-band long-distance communication solutions provider, has raised $10 million in funding led by Appollo Fund, with follow-on investments from IAN Group. The funds will advance Astrome's innovative wireless connectivity technologies, scaling operations, expanding product lines, and entering the satellite communication market, the company said in a press release. In September 2021, the deeptech business raised $3.4 million in a bridge financing. According to Neha Satak, CEO of Astrome, "this entry into the satcom market is the timely realisation of the vision with which this company was founded – to drive innovation and create solutions that enhance connectivity on a global scale." By integrating with optical fibre infrastructure, Astrome's GigaMesh makes 5G and 6G communication possible. Its attributes, such as point-to-multipoint connectivity and auto link alignment, guarantee quicker implementation, reduced expenses, and improved network performance. Through alliances with foreign OEMs, Astrome will shortly provide its ground-breaking GigaMesh product to the global market. GigaMesh seeks to address the constraints of current E-band technology, which are caused by expensive, manually aligned antennas. By collaborating with the government to provide internet to isolated communities, the firm has enhanced rural connectivity in India. Key customers like the Indian Army, Navy, and BSNL trust its state-of-the-art technologies. Astrome recorded income of Rs 8.29 crore for the fiscal year that ended in March 2024, compared to Rs 2.71 crore for the fiscal year prior. Its losses decreased from Rs 4.93 crore to Rs 1.73 crore throughout that time.
