Physics Wallah (PW), an edtech
Unicorn founded by Alakh Pandey, recently revealed its entry into the
conventional educational system. In Gurugram, the business opened PW Gurukulam
School. According to PW, the new school will provide a curriculum in line with
the 2020 National Education Policy. The school, which is associated with the
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), plans to accept 400 pupils in
its initial class, providing kindergarten through seventh grade instruction. According to the firm, The
newly established school intends to alter educational
norms by placing a strong emphasis on "all-inclusive education,
innovation, and culture." The curriculum of the school is structured to
encourage experiential learning, with a particular emphasis on
entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and Model United Nations (MUN)
programmes.
According to the statement, the
strategy is to equip students for a world of boundless opportunities that will
transcend traditional professional routes. PW Gurukulam stated that it has a
zero-tolerance policy against bullying and is dedicated to providing a safe
learning environment for its kids. The mission of the school is to develop
well-rounded people who are not just intellectually gifted but also kind and
considerate of others. The launch of PW Gurukulam comes in the wake of the
pandemic-led boom in online education, with Physics Wallah experiencing a
significant surge in online learning enrollments. However, the company has also
seen substantial growth in its offline ventures, with offline centres
contributing 40% to its revenue in 2023.
The company's operating revenue
shot up to Rs 771.76 crore in the fiscal year 2022–2023 from Rs 232.47 crore in
the previous fiscal year. Even though adjusted EBITDA decreased slightly from
Rs 134 crore in FY22 to Rs 127 crore in FY23, the company's move into physical
schools demonstrates its continued commitment to improving educational options
in India.
